Robyn and I just got back from our trip to San Diego this week. we went out there to do our first 1/2 Ironman of the year. We have both been training like maniacs for it and our hard work paid off. I have raced three halfs before and I have never felt good doing them. the first one I did was in south kona and it was pretty flat throughout the race. I had an exellent ride and descent swim but dropped out after five miles of the run. Then the next year I did the Honu 1/2 Ironman and felt like ten minutes into the run my body stopped working untill about five minutes after I finished. I did the same race again last year and after my fastest 1/2 ironman bike split of 2:34 I once again hurt really bad running. My run times have always been bad (2:20-2:25) with lots of walking and puking. Well I finally finished a race feeling good, smiling and I ran the whole thing without puking or walking or stopping. I beat my overall best time by 25 minutes! And the cool thing is that I swam only three times before the race, and ran about once a week for the last month. I feel pretty blessed to have been able to race and have a good time and most especially watch Robyn do her first race in 3 years.

She had a strong swim, a speedy bike split, and then unfortunately she dehydrated during the first mile of the run and had to suffer through her strongest part of the race. She still beat her overall best time by 35 minutes though!!!!! I am so proud of her and loved watching all the hard work pay off.

There are pictures of the race but I dont think I can steal them from the website...
